Pedestrians Licensing
Singapore is well known for papers. From PSLE, O Levels, Diploma, A Levels. After this stage of academic paper pursuit, time for acheving licenses. Your must get driver's license, TV license radio license. Get a car need to get COE(Certificate of Entitlement). Even going for nomination also need a COE.
Now after driving for a week in Singapore, I realise they need another one, which is a pedestrian license. Somewhere when a person is above 10 years old, they should be taking lessons and tests to get this license. And it is to be renewed every 5 years.
Why start from 10 years old? Because mostly people start crossing roads on their own around this age(my opinion).
Why every 5 years need to retake the test and renew the license? Because around the age of 15 onwards, they start to cross the roads with friends. Talking, joking, taking their own sweet time at the pedestrian crossing, even when there are cars trying to get thru. Even people with more white hair walk faster then people a third of their age.
Although pedestrian crossings are for your use , but please do be considerate to other road users too.
This applies especially to people walking around the Singapore's famous red light district. You searching for your sexual pleasure or what not does not give you immunity against cars moving at 50km/hr. And when i do give way for you to cross even when its not your right of way, you jolly well better brisk walk out of my way, instead of taking your own bloody sweet time crossing my path.
If the law does not always side with pedestrians, i think one fine day, i might just run over one such offender of the above activities. And then reverse and run over the body, and drive forward over the body towards my destination.
Disclaimer: The knocking down of people is just a joke. I violent but not that violent lah.
Over and out!
