In drunken oblivion
Passers-by were astonished to see a drunk man pass out on East Coast Road in the early hours of Wednesday.

One man, who gave his name only as Mr Tan, saw someone lying in the gutter at around 1am. He had seen the same man 15 minutes earlier, though this time, he had been lying on the pavement.

He said: 'It was very scary seeing him on the ground there. Although the road was not that busy, cars could still come by and run over him.'

Mr Tan called the police, who arrived at the scene shortly after and woke the man up. After taking some time to sober up, the man got into a taxi and went home.
